I've had dreams about taking pregnancy tests. Sometimes they're positive and sometimes they're impossible to read. But last night I dreamed that I was about 6 months pregnant and the best part: I could feel the baby moving around inside me! It felt every bit as real as it did when I was pregnant with my 3 kids. I don't know what this means except that it is a gift to feel that again.

Sometimes it seems our dreams tell us as much as our interpretation of them does. How would you feel about a fourth child?

I mentioned on the other board @Moose72 that I sometimes have a very similar dream, even to the point of waking myself up because I have my hand on my stomach. I don't think I've ever had a dream about taking a pregnancy test, though. I would have loved to have more than 2 children, but after them I had three miscarriages...awful, awful experiences to go through.

Would you have wanted more children?

I had several dreams of giving birth and having a baby. I think I’ve read somewhere that there are some meanings in it. Not really related to actual childbirth. Something else.

I'm sorry you went through that loss- not once but three times.

We were pretty sure that we were done after N3 because not only his pregnancy very high risk- I almost delivered at 28 weeks and the treatment for premature labor was an IV solution of magnesium sulfate- yes epsom salts! This slows down all the muscles to the point where you can't see very well and your mouth gets dried out. The overall effect of the mag sulfate was of feeling like a worn out dish rag! At one point I started sweating buckets out of nowhere. My chest hurt. "Turn it off!" The doctor exclaimed no doubt fearing that they'd overdosed me. But after all the unpleasantness my labor was stopped. I was sent home and put on strict bed rest until 36 weeks at which point I could resume normal activities.

N2's pregnancy was similar but it started at 30 weeks. Hospital, mag, bed rest until 36 weeks.

N1's pregnancy was normal.

I felt very lucky to have made it through to 39 weeks which is when I delivered all 3 of my children. THAT'S why I don't want to ever be pregnant again. Not to mention the prospect of actually delivering a preemie. No thank you!

Thank you, Moose. The first miscarriage was vicious because I was 4 months along. I still count how old that child would be now, and now, and now. S/he would be in high school.

The other two m/c's were no fun, but they were very early on, about 2 weeks.

Pregnancy is wonderful, but it can sure be rough! The "epsom salt" treatment sounds rather horrid! I'm glad it did its job, though!

My N1 was born by planned c-sec (but I went into light labor 2 weeks before the scheduled date). My N2 was a foolishly attempted VBAC that turned into a scary situation, until I was finally given a c-sec after pleading for one for many hours.

Speaking of dreams, one of the worst dreams I've ever had was when I was pg with the baby I miscarried. A couple of months into the pregnancy I dreamt I was stuck in a huge dug-out pit and there were demons, devils, and a tall, tall archetypal witch in the pit. After that dream I sensed that the pregnancy was not going well. I just knew it.

Before my N2 was born I had one of the most magnificent dreams I've ever had about nuns who were saint-like, golden light streaming through a window, and the nun women handing a baby to me. The baby was surrounded with golden light. And that baby so reminded me of my son.

This is from Dream Meanings:

To dream that you are pregnant symbolizes an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life that is growing and developing. You may not be ready to talk about it or act on it. Being pregnant in your dream may also represent the birth of a new idea, direction, project or goal. Dreaming that you did not realize you were pregnant implies that you are in denial about something. You also have a tendency to ignore things until it is right in front of you. Alternatively, if you are trying to get pregnant, then the dream may be a wish fulfillment. If you are not trying to get pregnant, but dream that you are, then it symbolizes fear of new responsibilities.

Yes, I've read that, too. I copied the above ^^^ from an online dream dictionary.

Do you have children, divine?

I had multiple dreams about giving birth and having a child. I believe I read somewhere that it had some meaning. It has nothing to do with actual childbirth.

I had a pregnancy dream last night. I was surprised to find that, at the age of 55 (? I'm 59) I was pregnant. I was so happy! But then I had the realization that it was unlikely a pregnancy would be viable at the age of 55. I felt extremely sad. Crushed. I do think I was having thoughts in my sleep of having had a miscarriage at age 41 and how devastating that was.

Yes I’ve had the pregnancy dream also, and it can be very real! I’ve read it’s to do with new beginnings/change.

Dreams are supposed to be your brain's way of processing stuff i believe

I'd be terrified if I got pregnant for real though

It was a comforting dream for me on one level because I liked my one experience of pregnancy- however in my dream I also feel stressed like others mentioned because I am too old to have a healthy baby now! Even in my dreams I worry lol.
