I've been having very vivid dreams lately, and when I start talking in them I'll wake up and finish what I was saying. This happens several times a night and the waking up bit is getting old and the talking bit is kinda weird.

Explanations?

Sometimes when I'm dreaming I'll even think "don't talk, you'll wake up" but I talk anyways

It’s strange when the two worlds meet via a shared event such as speech in your case, crates a real link between the two. I don’t think I’ve experienced this but I have woken up from yelling in my dream, to a muffled cry as I awoke.
Almost felt like I brought the fear out into the real world with me, though really, in a dream, not in a dream all those things are within us always.
Still, weird stuff.
Have you thought about why it may be happening now? What may be the importance of it?

Maybe it's a med thing. I don't know. I'm on Lamictal, Haldol, Seroquel, Prazosin, and valium. We've been messing with my Seroquel dose lately so maybe that's it. The dreams are mostly my fears (driving out of control, relapsing in regards to substances, food, etc.) and my anxiety's been really high lately so they're probably connected. I've just never woken up still talking the same sentence I was talking in my sleep though and that's what I'm curious about.

Muddy Boots, when I do that (and yes it feels weird) it means I'm struggling to process something. It's usually something buried deep that I'm trying to bring into my consciousness.

I have not done this in a long time, but I used to do it relatively often (?). I don't dream as often or as vividly as I did when younger.

I think we all at some point talk in our sleep especially during a nightmare

It would be very interesting if you could remember what it was you were saying

I usually can. Last night I dreamt I tested positive for covid and in my sleep I said "I'm positive for covid, I wonder if...." and then I woke up and said "I gave it to myself while purging."

Another night I dreamt I was at a party and my best friend came running in and dove on the floor crying "I got my period!" because she was trying to get pregnant and both in my sleep and when I woke up I was saying over and over "I'm so sorry."

For me it happens because of meds. Vivid dreaming, etc. Especially med withdrawal, especially if it's too rapid.

There were a few times I had heard myself talking in my sleep due to really bad dreams.

It's happened to me since I was young. I think it's fairly normal, and in itself, isn't an indicator of anything being "wrong" (unless someone is actually waking up shouting or physically acting-out).
