... every time I attempt to do so I go into a deep, suicidal depression. I did take welbutrin the last time I seriously tried to quit, but it made me hyper and paranoid, so I discontinued it, and the depression followed. I really want to quit for good, but I can't deal with feeling so depressed. What else can I do, besides taking antidepressants, to avoid the depression?

any idea what is triggering the depression? is it the mental addiction more so than the physical addiction? if it's a physical trigger, have you tried the patch/electronic cigarettes/gum? if so, did any of those help? thanks for posting!

I guess it's just underlying depression that I've struggled with for most of my life. I quit this past Tuesday cold turkey and I've been alternating between extreme irritability and suicidal depression. I'm starting to feel like it's not worth it and I should just start smoking again.

It's going. Cravings have been pretty intense. I've cheated a few times and had a few cigs. I am all over the place emotionally. This is really f-ing hard!
