Hey everyone, just wanted to share what helped me quit smoking, that being vaping.
I was a pack a day smoker for nearly a decade, had my routine of a coffee and a cigarette, one after every meal, and so on. I wanted to quit, but just the thought of it was too formidable for me to consider. In the end, it was a financial decision to quit. A pack here in NY was up to $10.50 by the time I quit, when I think about how much I flushed down the toilet it makes me mad, but no need to dwell in the past. Anyway, a friend turned me on to vaporizers. If you're unfamiliar, they are electrical devices that "vaporize" a liquid that contains a small amount of nicotine, or can contain no nicotine at all if that's what you prefer. It's much cheaper than cigarettes and far better for your health. Obviously it would be better to quit cold turkey but for those of us who find that task too daunting, I think vaporizers are a great alternative. If you're considering trying this I would advise you to only buy liquids made in the USA, the ones from China are known to contain less than safe ingredients. If you want the website I have been using for over a year go ahead and PM me, even if you just want to check it out. I'd link it here but I don't want it to seem like I'm advertising for them because that isn't my intention, just trying to offer some help for people trying to get off cigs.

I don't have high grade vapes, and They are helpful, when I'm in a non smoking place, but I still smoke. I roll/use a machine, buy my own tobacco, which is only about 8 bucks for a carton. I live in a smoking household so that doesn't help but I have heard that the vaporizer helps a lot of people quit smoking. Good luck to you.

Just an FYI, some E-Cigs have a small chance of exploding if over charged with the wrong voltage charger. Saw an article where one exploded and sent a guy to the hospital with serious burns on his hands, face and chest and put him into a coma.
Also, I am unsure of how regulated the liquids in these things are, so be very cautious when buying them. Some news sources say that because some go unregulated, they could potentially be more dangerous than smoking conventional cigarettes. Of course, I read that news article quite a few months ago and regulating the liquids could very well have changed for the better by now.

I quit smoking using vaping. I'm a hard case, I have COPD and still couldn't quit smoking until I tried vaping.
The risk of a battery venting or exploding is the same risk you have with any other device, such as mobile phones. Vaping is a miracle for those of us smoking ourselves into disease and death. Vaping is so much safer and effective that England medical institution recently began promoting vaping for smoking cessation. The FUD that exists surrounding vaping is coming from tobacco companies mainly. They are losing money from people switching to vaping. A little serious research will show you that vaping is at least 95% safer than smoking. Yes, I do get on my soapbox regarding vaping, but mainly because I also heard those same nonsensical "studies" and it caused me to be afraid of vaping and not tried it much sooner. The truth is that for a smoker, vaping is at least 95% safer than smoking cigarettes. For me, it has been a miracle. |

I guess I don't see how exactly smoking one instead of another thing helps you to quit smoking altogether. I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this, so I apologize in advance, but I think quitting cold turkey is the best route to go. I've heard it from many former smokers that they couldn't quit until they went cold turkey. My mother and father are two of those such people.
Okay, so I'm not a smoker, nor do I understand the cravings and nic fits completely. I know they are mighty strong, so I'm not completely ignorant. Also, Harvard (yes, THE most prestigious of prestigious Universities) published this study they did on chemicals found in flavored vaping liquids. http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/15-10185./#tab2 To make a long story short, at least 39 out of the 51 flavors tested had high levels high levels of a chemical called Diacetyl. Diacetyl is linked to very serious lung and bronchial diseases including Bronchiolitis obliterans, an irreversible, inflammatory lung disease. Now I'm getting off MY soapbox.

I totally quit with Vaping and feel much better since I switched. Btw A a lot of flavor makers.... Actually most now make thier e liquids diacetyl free and state such. First one I ever saw do this was Halo cigs.
Do I think Vaping is healthy or safer than smoking? Well.... No. I can however report breathing easier, usually my BP is elevated from anxiety but now even with my anxiety my BP is lower, my mouth isn't so dry, I don't smell like cigarettes,im not out of breathe, things don't turn yellow anymore ![]() The newest devices have safety mechanisms to keep them from overheating. But some advice from what I've learned even charging my cell phone, do not use rapid chargers. The most likely ones to explode are the ones who are making thier own coils and boxes with little knowledge of ohms law. Whatever works to help someone quit or feel better health wise, I say go for it. It isn't for everyone. Not everyone can go cold turkey and a lot of people have had success with other ways. And a note on "studies"... I really hate when the abstract isn't supplied or who funded them, and what devices they used, what liquid did they use, etc. I do think devices should be required to have safety features and alllllllll liquids be diacetyl free. I don't have a problem with non smokers bashing Vaping. Vaping isn't like lettuce. However, non smokers are probably the most uninformed when it comes to the current Vaping world. Thier are studies that lean to Vaping and studies that don't. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
