I’d wish there was the possibility to attend to a group therapy in my city, for people who are like me, with social anxiety.
I tried to find a group before in the town hall’s services but there were available for other groups as mistreat women. During my research I was told people like me should enrol in a “normal” group, for example a theatre group. But, I don’t see myself capable of being with “normal” people, to say it somehow. I was about doing this kind of therapy with one of my psychologist but the other people didn’t finally accept to do the therapy. I wonder if any of you have had experience with group therapy and in which degree you find it helpful. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. I have been in two group therapies & both were very helpful. They felt like being part of a family. One was conducted by a psychiatrist, the other by a clinical psychologist. I also have social anxiety & in a mental health group you can feel more normal, or less out of place. I hope you find what you're looking for.

A theatre group for people with social anxiety, that would be kind of cool. I mean the pressure is less when you know everyone has social anxiety too.

Sometimes there are groups run by clinical psychologists (usually these groups are expensive... depends on the area though) These therapy groups can be quite helpful for people with social anxiety, often the groups include people with different mood disorders, anxiety disorders etc. I am not sure that the advice that you ''should enrol in a ''normal'' group, for example a theatre group'' was helpful. I often don't get on well with ''normal'' people either. A therapy group or support group which is guided by an expert and caring facilitator would probably be more helpful (and hopefully more gentle) than a group with ''normal'' people (imo) __________________ |

Yes, for me to enrol with normal people in an activity as theatre would be like a shock therapy. I would avoid it on the second session.
The city I live in it’s very modest, we don’t have many facilities. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English. My apologies for errors and mistakes in advance. Mankind is complex: Make deserts blossom and lakes die. ( GIL SCOTT-HERSON) |
