I'm a 19 year old male. I've always been fairly confident in myself and have had a fair share of girls be with me (never a serious girlfriend though). I don't sleep around below my standards just for sex or anything like that though.
Anyways, I went through a break up with a girl who was the closest thing I've ever had to a real, serious girlfriend maybe a month ago. Before this happened and even when i met that girl, I was super confident and thought I was very good looking and would grab the attention of others and everything. Now, I look in the mirror and I can't get my hair to look as nice or I have extra acne or something is just not the same. Is it just my lowered confidence after the break up, or am I actually not as good looking as I may have thought and been over confident? I've always been told I'm pretty good looking, but I can't see it. Is it just me? How can I regain my confidence? |

Acne should be treated with prescription topical retinoids and over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide wash. Don't delay treating acne - call the dermatologist or gp today to set up an appointment. Or, if you get lucky, ask them to send the prescription to your pharmacy without seeing you.
you sound a little immature for 19, thinking that the breakup was due to your looks. Anyway, this can be discussed later - go take care of your skin first. |

Sounds like a bit of self-doubt. Have you allowed yourself to be sad, hurt, to grieve the loss of the relationship that meant more to you than the others? (I'm kind of guessing not...) When we get knocked down, it takes a while to get back up, and that is normal, it is OK. I doubt there is a problem as superficial as the things you mention...your feelings have been touched...altered...(not your hair, skin...)

I think you're just a little down on yourself, and it happens to the best of us! You're just in a funk. It's definitely not attractive to others when your OVER confident, but confidence can be very attractive, so it's all about the right balance. Believe that you're awesome, and others will believe it too. You have the opportunity to make your life how you want to make it, whether you're good looking or not!
I know it sounds dumb, but write down a few things you like about yourself every single day. That'll remind you of how important, smart, determined, charming, courageous, and kind you are. Put looks aside, that's not the problem here! Focus on yourself, get to the gym to get your serotonin levels up (I swear you'll feel happier), and find a new hobby or interest to immerse yourself in for the time being. You'll be fine, I promise! |
