I've finally realized the REAL reason behind not taking care of myself.. As a child, I had to repress my needs because there was no one to meet them. My parents were too emotionally unavailable to even realize the kind of needs I had - emotional ones, in particular.. Had I actually felt all those unmet needs, I would have gone insane! So I had to repress them in order to survive..

I am sad I had to go through this, but also glad to become aware of it now - this means I can start to recognize my needs, invite them to the surface - because today, I am actually capable of meeting them myself! I'm no longer dependent on my parents or other people - I don't have to repress my needs anymore because I actually want to know about them and meet them so that I can feel good!
