I don't think anyone I've known irl has loved me. Maybe S does even though we fight like every day. It's my fault though.

I keep being told I need to take care of myself more/love myself more/abuse myself less.

I have a little bit of a trauma and CEN history and I think that's the main cause. How can you love yourself if you were always told everything you did was bad, or wrong, or you were treated like shyt constantly?

It took several years for me to develop even the slightest amount of self-kindness / self-compassion. It doesn't have to take that long, but it was a journey for me. I did talk therapy and hypnotherapy, and they helped tremendously. Also, though, I figured out that if I don't treat myself kindly, I'm only but so helpful to others. Once you get there, it's definitely a worthwhile endeavor.

Its like switching from only eating red meat to being a vegan. Its a total paradigm change. Down is up, dry is wet, day is night. Instead of breathing in oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide (like i know), you have to make like a tree and start accepting sunlight and creating oxygen. Wear your shoes on the wrong feet, socks on your hands, underwear out. But act like everything is the same, everything is normal, while you're dancing on the ceiling.
