I'm sorry you are feeling like that. I don't come in this forum often. Please know I care. Sending a hug because I think you need it.

I'm unsure of whether this strategy will work for you, but I have found that a little bit of apathy and nihilism helps (for some people) in situations where people feel like this.
It may sound like a really bad combination but there are some things I to keep in mind (this definitely isn't for everyone). 1. Dead people don't care If you're dead, I don't think you'll care if people remember you or not. Or at least be incapable of anyway. 2. We're all the same We're all equally doomed. Even if you're someone like Shakespeare who is remembered by everyone, the human race isn't going to last forever. When it dies, the memories die. So it really doesn't matter if you are remembered or not since any number of years pretty much equals nothing compared to eternity. 3. Optimism I know that I probably sound like a complete pessimest from what I've posted so far, but optimism is very important. If the world is a field of weeds, the flowers will stand out more than anything. 4. Norms Keep in mind that what is "normal" is a society's collection of cultures and values. In other countries, what's "normal" is completely different. So being normal really doesn't mean anything. 5. The Media Keep in mind that corporations want you to feel this way so you are always unsatisfied and buy more to try to fill the void. When American media was introduced into Japan, there was a massive influx of eating disorders in girls. The companies purposely make a unretainable image for a "good" life. 6. Humility I find this to be a great self esteem booster. I take the world into perspective and remember that since I have 3 meals a day and a roof over my head, I'm one of the luckiest 15% of the people in the world. There's still children starving to death every few seconds and I feel grateful for what the world has provided me with. 7. Attitude For me, this is the most important aspect. Try to approach things without attaching emotions to them. You can't please everyone, and remember that opinions and stigmas mean nothing outside your culture. I have found Mark Twain to have some amazing quotes that I think you'll like. They turn the heavy things in life into brighter things. I'll give a few examples. Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been. When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained. Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes time and annoys the pig. Anyway, I hope that helped. Don't worry about life too much, we're all in the same boat. ![]() |
