Thank you so much for this group. I need it so much. My low self-esteem started as a child in the early development years. I am now 50. I am constantly second guessing everything I say and do. I am constantly beating myself up. I am constantly seeking approval. The list gos on and on.

Trying to figure out the bottom line to all this.
I have low self esteem, poor assertiveness, depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD. So what underlies all of this? Or.....is it different for different people? I find myself chasing each issue for a time. Then, feel like I am chasing the wrong thing. So, the chase begins anew. I am in therapy. My therapist and I set goals for me to work on. Right now the goals are for better self esteem and improved assertiveness. Not sure if I am going in the right direction--just like these wee folks below my words. |

Can you describe the process of chasing each issue? Sounds like you are really trying

Junerain, Sometimes i think the answer is to deal with the depresssion. Another times I feel if I could just conquer the anxiety I could handle life. Sometimes I try to deal with the ADD on my own (but to no avail). I have several problems that I struggle with each day. I do not know what is the underlying issue. I guess that is why my therapist helped me choose two to work on. Hope that clarifies my statement.

I think self esteem is just a chance.if you have it you are lucky and if you dont have it you are unlucky.and nobody can improve it.but if you can improve it then you are so lucky.

What you mean with Self-Nurturing? How can I find my positive qualities and believe them that they are true?
Thanks in advance |

I don't like the idea of people noticing me on my journey, but do need to thank the good ones

Thanks for making this forum, Doc. I lost self esteem in later life due to some bad decisions, bad luck and bad self talk. So having tools and techniques to reprogram the mindset would be great.

There are many types of monsters that scare me: Monsters who cause trouble without showing themselves, monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood... and then, monsters who tell nothing but lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance: They are much more cunning than others. They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they've never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them... because in truth, I am that monster.

You can find strengths in anything. Something as simple as being a good friend or something as big as being a survivor of a horrible situation. You find those strengths about yourself and just keep reminding yourself of them. |

I can't seem to keep healthy relationships personal or on business. It's like I have this invisible sign that says "Run as fast and as far away from me as you can". I'm pretty down too earth... Nobody else notices or gives me time to realize that I'm not a phony or a fake. I don't understand it. I would really like it if someone just told me straight to my face... Then I wouldn't have so many paranoid thoughts of what their thinking about me

I have horrible low self esteem and I'm constantly always comparing myself to others and don't think I'm a good person at all. I don't like who I am and I'm unhappy. I've been abused so many times in my life and right now I'm going through depression.

Hello everyone,
I am a student at a university, and I we were asked to join an online support group for the class. It had to deal with an interest or something we struggle with. I chose self-esteem because it is something I struggle with, accepting myself for who I really truly am, and knowing that I am just as good as anyone else. I really look forward to getting tips, and hearing other people testimonies. Thank you. |
