My Mom has been having back pain and also pain in her right shoulder for a while. Had a cortisone shot in the shoulder which reduced the pain. She has had MRI of the shoulder and back, then last week, we went to a specialist, surgeon, in Columbus, Ohio. He told her the only way he could help with the shoulder is replacement as her osteoarthritis is so bad. Also, he sees a lot of damage in the upper back and that is causing numbness in her right arm. He wants more tests to make sure he can do surgery on her shoulder without causing more damage elsewhere. My Dad has always been verbally cruel, and throughout this ordeal of pain and so on, he has told my Mom terrible things. One of them is that he gave up his whole life for her. What??? I know that I have a big job ahead of me this winter, helping her, and she will come first. I just hope I can handle it with grace when my Dad comes up with these awful things that he says. He also needs medical care that he has been ignoring, but she just will have to come first. I just needed to let this out, I guess. They are both in mid 70's and look and act like mid 80's because they are so unhappy. I just will do the best I can.
