can anyone tell me what working on feelings in t involves. the idea is scaring me. my t mentioned starting it. i really dont want to do it. do you really need to for the process to work. if you do i will try. but i would really, really like not to if i dont have to. im still struggling with what she told me some of it was called. and her comment last session that it was crimminal on so many levels. i dont want to add dealing with feelings on top of that. is it all supposed to work together. im starting to feel like i want to run from it all again. feelings are the absolute hardest thing for me.

Can you share all of this with your T? Working through your feelings eventually is a mental health goal.

You have the feelings, whether you acknowledge them or not. It reminds me of when I went rappelling down a cliff and got stuck only 1/3rd of the way down on a tiny ledge. I couldn't just sit there and it was too small for a helicopter to land to rescue me
![]() It is necessary working with feelings but there are good feelings in there too that you can't access well because of trying to keep the bad ones away. Feeling good is every bit as wonderful as feeling bad is horrible/scary.

Suzzie I'm struggling with this too. I don't understand what working through feelings is all about either. Sometimes I don't even recognize or am able to identify the feelings I'm having.

i think it can be doable for you if you go at a pace that is safe for you. believe me i know it can be scarey .just let your T know how scared you are and that you need to take it slow.the feelings alreadt exsist

For me feelings are like our arm or leg or heart. They are APART of us. We have to learn through therapy to 'feel our feelings'. Doing this helps to know ourselves and as another person said, improve mental health. Good and negative feelings all need to be integrated into us to make us whole.

Working through feelings can be hard. Right now I am working through my fear feelings in my sessions with my T. It sometimes makes me feel like I did as a little girl and that can be hard. The only thing that gets me through is remembering that my T is a safe person and I am not living in the past. I take it very slow if I need to. I like the idea of telling your T(granite1) how scared you are and that you need to take it slow.
