I would think yes because a young child has less cognitive ability so your understanding at that time and ability to cope would be less and what you drew from that experience would stay with you intact as it was. Also, the younger you are the less emotionally developed you would be and the abuse would stunt further development.

well said, Sanna. also, things we felt before we learned to talk are still saved in memory, but there is nothing that cannot be "de-toxed", so to speak. if you survived the actual event, you can survive the memory of it, by accepting that it happened, like the rain and the snow, nothing more: deprive it of Meaning.
