Whenever I get sober moments, which have been rare especially the last month and a half, I get images. I started reading the courage to heal and it has been a total mind f*&k to say the least. Anyways it is hard to know now what is real and what pertains. Like for instance I was resting earlier this evening and I got an flashing image of a man in 80's style tennis or jogging shorts and a white golf shirt as well as a profile of a mans face, one that doesn't belong to my grandfather. Am I to interpret that this image of this man is somehow related to the SA?

Is this a common thing in the beginning, did you guys go through this confusion as well when repressed memories started returning? Also if anyone wouldn't mind, a clear definition of flashback would be helpful.

It happened with me-- definite confusion over all things repressed.
Only my therapist helped me sort out the fragmented memories, cus they can get really confusing.

Counseling???

Flashback->
A recurring, intensely vivid mental image of a past traumatic experience. The re-emergence of a traumatic memory as a vivid recollection of sounds, images, and sensations associated with the trauma. The person having the flashback typically feels as if they are reliving the event. Flashbacks were first described by doctors treating combat veterans of World War I (1914–1918).

Do you have a therapist to help you with this?
