There are some serious double standards out there.

I have heard people on the news saying that this was no big deal; that the boy was probably happy. Had the genders been reversed no one would even question that this was abuse. Its awful!!

Grrrr. It's all over the news here. (being from the Tampa area)

My husband and I were having lunch yesterday when the news broke that the charges were dropped.

We could hear the discussions at the different tables.

Most were in agreement that the boy "didn't mind" having sex with a teacher.

Now she is challenging the media to read books on Bipolar so they will see that it was her mental illness that "made her do it."

My memory isen't the best in the world. I thought i heard on the news that she would have to register as a sex offender.? I could be confusing it with another case. Unfortunately they are on the increase. So sad. Sex Offender Lafave sites Bipolar

You're right Dottie. She is a registered sex offender.

She has copped a major attitude against the media now that the charges have been dropped. She's in their faces saying "Never once did you mention my mental illness. Never once did you talk about my bipolar disorder."

She is flaunting her mental illness as an excuse as to why she acted that way. THIS is what infuriates me even more.

Now all the local channels have "mental health experts" explaining what bipolar is and the great debate is on about whether it made a difference or not in her CRIME.

The older boys, young men who are having "consenual" sex with underage woman are rarely caught or charged. And the young ladies think it's cool that this 25 year old would pay attention to them. The whole thing needs revisiting and the same treatmen t across the board.
