I was just wondering if seeing/hearing things about abuse in the news is as triggering and troublesome to anyone else as it is to me?
(For instance, referencing the Jerry Sandusky trial, although not completely similar to what I went through, was what initially triggered my flashbacks after 10 years of not even thinking about abuse, and I now have to avoid the news completely) |

Yes, it can trigger me too, that young girl that went missing in Florida a while back where it was the neighbor who took her and and they found her dead, burried in his yard, I thought of her age and when I was that age and being CSA and was so frightened that would happen to me. So when I saw that, it confirmed my real fears so many years ago. Yes there are certain things I cannot watch myself. (((Hugs))) Open Eyes |

I have avoided watching the news, or reading the newspaper, for years. A couple of the cases that somehow get across to me always trigger me into a panicked state. Very anxious, and then I become severely depressed. No fun...which is why I avoid it completely!
