I got sent an email to my private email (I subscribe to some activist stuff and got this from them. If you want to know more, you may let me know. My pm is closed now, but I will open it long enough to send you the information if you want it)

Anyway, this website sent me an email to sign a petition and I signed it of course.

I want to share the emotional impact this had on me. I am not pushing anything politically for anyone to do anything, just needed to share how it bothered me so much. I am glad to know about it, but OMG---so horrible!

Whenever I hear about atrocities in the news or (I am not sorry that I am heaing it; I need to know stuff so that I can fight it if I can) in the media, etc. or just plain from a book someone writes about abuse, or when I witness it, I sometimes (often, actually) have flashbacks or trigger-feelings which may take me back to the age of my own memories.

This website sent me an email that talked about a technique they were utilizing for disciplining young, developmentally disabled children. For behavior they deemed "inappropriate", such as not taking off a jacket or trying to hold a teacher's hand (often for love and affection; often these children are only reaching out in the only way they can!).

They shock children. Eletrically shock them with devices. They attach eletrodes to their arms and legs, maybe elsewhere, too. And when the child is "inappropriate", they shock them!

So I signed a petition to try to end this.

I am very shook up.

As a survivor who also studies abuse and trauma every day, I can't believe it still shakes me up so badly. I hope that just means that I still feel things!

Hi Billi Was there a link to a news story about this in that email? That sounds awful if it's real. I'd hope there wouldn't need to be a petition to stop kids from being tortured. Cops, CPS, somebody should be able to prevent that.

I have been following this story too on CNN and I signed a petition too. It is unbelievable that this can happen here.

I attempted to post it, but it's broken.

This is for anyone who would like to sign this petition. The more the better. You may let me know if you do it or not. I want to see if this gets done.

The cops don't always know and people are often afraid to tell.
