My state is preparing for the adoption of medical marijuana before January. I am wondering if anyone has tried it for pain and stress symptoms. I've never had it before and wonder if in any form it might be of any use to anyone in the abuse or PTSD categories.

I really don't think so.
Been prescribed weed for glaucoma- I'm in my late twenties and have an open angle glaucoma resistant to normal treatment but I still can't take it- makes me feel powerless- not a good feeling for someone with SA history. ![]() |

It would just be an addiction for you.

It could be something positive, you never know.

I tried it recently (hadn't done it since I was in my early 20's) and I had great hope that it would work. It didn't hurt but didn't help. It was pretty much the same experiences I had when I was younger. Did nothing to help my depression or anxiety.
I would still like to see medicinal marijuana available in all states. It didn't help me, but it might really help someone else with mental illness. And I would probably give it another shot, just in case I had smoked something that wasn't potent enough.

8 years ago when I was living in California where medical marijuana, one of the medical Dr's that was treating me in the hospital for my anorexia suggested using it to increase my appetite.......I just laughed......the trauma I went through was the final blow on my anorexia....not just something that can be fixed with marijuana.
After I got out of the medical hospital, my pdoc ended up having to put me on a high dose of seroquel to knock me out so I could sleep without the nightmares I was having about the trauma......seroquel is supposed to have a weight inducing aspect to it but after several years, it had NO effect on my weight....but it did help with my sleep....only thing that got me through that period

I take it daily for sleep with great success - a tiny dose is enough. Works especially well in conjunction with an equally tiny dose of Amitrtiptyline. It is the best sleep medicine of many I have tried.
In terms of pain - I have tried it for migraine pain and it did NOT work, alas. But I am happy enough with marijuana's being THE solution for sleep. |

Great to hear it works for you for what you need most.
I'm afraid to even bring it up thinking that people will think I want marijuana and that as an excuse I need it for sleep or anxiety. Anxiety lately has been my nemesis. I live each moment in stress over some of the most ridiculous things. Some other areas, work related or family related may be worthy of stress but it hangs in my body and is so uncomformtable. Sleep also is an issue but I don't know if I should just bring it up. Also I wonder who can actually prescribe it? just Dr's or primary Dr.s or pdocs? A bit overwhelmed with symptoms right now. |

I suffered from serious injuries do to a car accident. I had a good deal of nerve damage. I was taking all kinds of heavy pain killers to attempt to relieve the pain. It got to the point where I was almost helpless.
Before it was legal, I tried it with my wife. I was completely amazed at how much it helped me. I never became addicted to it and as time passed and my injuries healed, I still found that it was an alternative to alcohol. When my wife was sick with cancer, her doctor prescribed the pills. After she died, I was cleaning things out and found the pills. Needless to say, I was hurting a lot, I tried one of the pills. Much to my surprise, I actually found that I was able to think clearly and even though the emotions were still there, I was more capable of working with them. I rarely ever smoke the stuff but, I believe the medical benefit of it is clear and I also believe that the only reason it is not legal is because the alcohol manufactures would go broke if it was. Recently, I was suffering from some male performance anxiety. There were a combination of things going on but by in large the problem was stress. I went to my doctor and he gave me the ED pills. They didn't work, finally my girl friend suggested we try marijuana. Guess what, it worked very well. I am a professional person and never did anything while I was young or in college. Now, I fully believe that there is enough evidence to support the medical claims that it works,. More importantly, there is also enough evidence to support the fact that it is going to do less damage to your body than alcohol. When was the last time you heard of a person suffering from liver disease do to pot. |

Regarding ED: I have had very very little experience with marijuana above the smallest doses used for sleep, and I found (being a woman) that it makes for the best, inhibition-free sex. I can no longer afford medicinal use for nightly sleep but I will buy a bit of marijuana for occasional use before sex and see what happens. So I can easily believe that it relieved your male performance anxiety and am glad that you found this remedy. |

I appreciate hearing different perspectives. It seems to make me more determined to find out about our new law. Anywhere I seem to turn no one knows anything. I suppose there is a learning curve here. But in this day and age it isn't acceptable. If the law passed then there should be a way to access the stuff. My drs. office isn't prescripbing and from what I've seen online there iaren't ways to access it. I would think the organizers or somebody would have thought through the steps about what next and how to get it to people that could benefit. Frustrated? Yes, I am.
