I know I was abused in all forms when I was a child. But I can't seem to remember a large part of it except for a few occasions. Does this mean that I have used dissociation to cope as a child?

If I understand the term correctly, then I think it could be involved. People with DID dissociate so much that they develop "personalities" that hang on to certain memories and feelings. I believe that's a proper way of saying it.

On the other hand, many of us don't remember a whole lot about our childhoods, anyway.

Have you asked a therapist or a psychiatrist about it?

Could be.
