I have been very close friends with a young woman named Cathy,I met Cathy when she was staying at my friends house( As they were her foster parents).
she was 17 at the time and i was 29 i believe. Anyway fast forward ahead a few yrs she was 23 and i was... well older , we started dating, didnt last long, but our freindship really took off after that. She had a 2 yr old daughter from a previous ( abusive) relationship. Cathy confided in me that she was sexually, physically and emotionally abused by her parents from 2-8 yrs old and again by a Uncle.Cathy is a VERY sweet girl. She has had a horrible life, She has had bad relationships, she cant hold down a job , Her and her daughter have hardly ever had a place to call their own. I know the symptoms of the abuse and she has most of them. Trust issues( with me i feel anyway). stomach pains or feeling sick , in the 3 or 4 times we have dated we have never had sex.For two reason mainly , 1) I am a believer of sex After marriage, And 2) I never felt like pushing the issue with her. Intamacy issues, Fear especially at night , Insomnia, And The list goes on. I Love Cathy with all my heart. And her daughter and I are super close. I feel like I dont know how to talk to her about possibly seeking help. I am relocating to florida in a few months. I will miss her and her daughter terrilbly. I just wish i knew how to get her the help she needs. Because im sure as soon as i leave its going to come crashing down on her, again |

I'm sorry that this happen to you. I was a victim of abuse myself mentally and physically because my dad was a drug addict. He has been clean for 8 years now, but I feel like he still has some of the mental state while he was on substance abuse..

Simple answer: therapy. She needs to get it asap so that she can work through the childhood traumas that in time will lead to a healthy sex life and a fully functional adult.
