My Doc told me that eventhough I feel as though I am past the abuse and living in the now, that my brain and immune system are still fighting an old battle. I feel like I have put the abuse to bed but I am dealing with multiple physical issues with health right now. What do you think?

My T says this to me a lot...the body stores the trauma.

"The body has a unique memory system, in which early trauma and deeply buried feelings become woven into the fabric of our physical being. Certain events can trigger these body memories, which may then manifest themselves symptomatically–as persistent anger, mood swings, headaches, muscle tension, and fatigue. These echoes from the past also cause destructive patterns in our lives and relationships."

Maybe you can find this book at the library.

Oh, yes, ww. I second what Petunia has said.

Right now I'm listening to a tape of a national psychology conference where a neurologist had studied this extensively and his findings (proven many of them) have astounded me.

So I will check out the library but does anyone know how to really discern what is what and how to heal the soul so the body is more healthy? I am ill and I am scared.

I hope a hug will help that is all I know to do....I fight the very same issue and have no idea how to fix it. Many years of abuse have as my doctors put it, "taken its toll on my body and there was nothing left to fight with..." I go back to the hospital next tuesday for surgery but unfortunately I don't have much hope for it. Enough about me.....just wanted you to know I care and hope you find a way to overcome and feel better.

I had a chat with my Doc

The mind body connection is very strong and we may feel we're doing well in one area or the other but an area might think differently :-) It's hard with people since our head is not all thoughts/feelings but has all kinds of body stuff happening with chemicals and nutrients (or lack of ) and the body is the same way, not just a body acting like a broken leg but also gaining weight or breaking down in spots, sacrificing itself so the head or heart (or other organs) can survive. Reading Deepak Chopra when he first became known got me feeling a whole lot better about my body and understanding the mind body connection a bit better for myself.

I hope you find some answers. The body isn't made up of three different parts... but rather three intertwined parts, if the one suffers, the others do as well. Maybe the physical pains is your brains way of telling you something is wrong...? But on the other hand, naybe they are just that, physical...
