I took three people to court ten years ago on some serious charges, two were let off the hook and one sent to prison for seven months on two of the lesser charges against him. There was some evidence that I informed police of at the time, which I believe would have gone some way in proving their guilt. They told me they'd look into it, and then said that there wasn't any such evidence. I assumed at the time they meant it had been destroyed. After doing some digging (because it's recently being rubbed in my face daily and I want to do something about it), I discovered that the evidence wasn't destroyed until six years after it should have been enquired about by police and that they have no record of police even enquiring about it at all, ever!! This could have possibly meant the difference between months and years for at least one of them.
I am told by someone there's nothing I can do about it. This is such a huge mistake, how can there be nothing I can do?!? Rant over. Sorry. |

Don't ask me why there's a thumb there.

I'm so sorry to hear that
![]() If you wanted to follow-up though, you can always contact the police commission regarding the case and ask them to look into the officers investigation to see if they really did everything they should have. |

Yes I think I'm going to do that. Someone made a mistake that could have made a huge difference. I don't see how it's fair that I've got to have this in my face every day with no escape when if they'd done their jobs properly I might not be faced with them for years. For the last nine years I've had abuse screamed at me in public, even at my door and now one on my doorstep just because I chose to do the legally right thing and put them where they belong. He gets a seven month slap on the wrist and I have a lifetime of memories and them giving me hell.
