New here - hello everyone. Due to CSA, I still have a hard time standing up for myself at times. Well, due to repeated inappropriate comments being made at work(I followed the chain of command to try to resolve it), I have finally decided to take my concerns to the "top" level because the comments are being made about children. My meeting will be in early January and I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to stand your ground without getting triggered.

Can you make sure to write a letter stating everything you want to state and take it with you?

I agree with above - for me the best way is always to write down the main points I want to say so that I remember them. Also, do any grounding exercises work for you. Practicing breathing and grounding before hand can often help when you are there if you are worried about triggers.

Hi Steph,
Here is a thing used in assertiveness, its
called 'broken record'. What you do when others
try to dissuade or change the main point your on
about. The reason it is called that is, when someone
says blah, blah, blah which is away from your point,
you just keep REPEATING IT LIKE A BROKEN
RECORD: "Yes I understand that,but I'm talking
about the children." Or "We have all these other
issues to tackle." Yes, I know you do,but I'm still
talking about the children! You can stand there all
day repeating it UNTIL THEY LISTEN.
Courage To You,
BLUEDOVE
