The person in my previous post is my older brother. Last weekend, less than two weeks after he told me what he did, was our 2-1/2 day family reunion. I went Friday evening, thinking there would be enough people there to "shield" me from having to see him. There weren't. I'd been kinda sick all week - stress and new meds, I figured. But Saturday morning I was so sick, I couldn't leave the house. I missed the rest of the reunion.
Now coming up is the 4th, when the more immediate family gets together. I'm just not ready to be around him. But it's MY family, too. I just feel as though he's taken my family away. And it's not fair! He's the one that did wrong. Nobody else knows, though, so I look like the bad guy by staying awat. I'M JUST SOANGRY!! Does Iit go away or am I forever banned from family activities? |

I think this is up to you - you're going ot have to decide how much of it you can put up with - but it is really unfair, you're completely right.

I posted too early ! What I was going to say was, if you don't think you can handle it (and getting ill may well be your body telling you that emotionally this is TOO MUCH) then don't go. You are perfectly entitled not to put yourself through this while you are so vulnerable. If they're worth their salt they'll still be there for you.

If you don't want to see him or have a bad gut feeling, don't see him. Or else make sure you are with someone all the time and do not spend time with him.
