Well.
I've been searching online about help for this specific stressor all weekend.
After a three year battle getting my case to trial for sexual assault against my step father. He was found not guilty.
I feel defeated.
I see a therapist. But I can't seem to find someone to relate to specifically where their perpetrator has been found not guilty.
Please help me

It makes me sick. I feel like all the things I was told as a child "no one will believe you" or that they'll get away with it...

I understand it was a historical case. And I understand that there was an absence of evidence. But what will people think, that I lied? Will they trust their children around him.
I just don't know

I'm so sorry that happened. I know its probably not much of a comfort to you, but I'm proud of you for trying. It must have been an unbearable process for you, yet you persevered and did your best. I can't help but think that some good has to come of it. Like even though he was not found guilty, maybe it will help someone else come forward? Or maybe it'll prevent him from doing it to someone else? Hugs to you.

Someone must have believe you or it never would have made it to court!

I know it's no consolation but it's not a secret for him anymore and people will watch their children closer because of you. Your strength to move forward with the case could possible be what saves several children.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.

I don't know of any links to refer you to, but I do know that many perpetrators of child sexual abuse are never held accountable for their crimes.

I was told by an attorney that I consulted that the statute of limitations had long run out on mine and that I had no chance in hell of winning a court case against my abusers.

It isn't right!

There should not be a statute of limitations for child rapists!

I'm in Canada.. thankfully there isn't a statute of limitations. That is not right and I think it's a terrible law. Truly.
It's not over yet... his father ( my step grandfather) is also on trial ... except he is requesting a fitness trial.. reasoning he's too old and can't remember. .. ugh
So now his son (stepfather, found not guilty) Wil be there watching.
It's a true nightmare .
