I went to a charity event for stopping human trafficking in my state and around the world.

I sang one of my songs about being free from abuse for the brunch event and I listened to some of the girl's stories and it triggered the hell out of me. These were stories from girls who were sexually exploited and sold as sex slaves in their teens. I have been sexually abused so I understand where they are coming from, but I can't imagine being forced into a lifestyle like that.

Anyway, I get so triggered hearing their stories, they make me hate men, hate myself for being so weak, and hate the situation.

I'm not complete in my recovery, is it wise for me to be active in this charity if I'm still recovering myself? I was sexually abused as a teen and I'm so passionate about helping survivors through my music.

first off, you are not weak...get that straight

and no, I don't think it is wise to be involved in this charity if it triggers you so much.....can you find another charity that you can sing at

or go ahead and work for this charity if you are passionate about it, just whenever girls tell their stories, get up and leave the room. you do not need to be exposing yourself to that. you need to take care of yourself.
