I'm currently a woman trapped in an emotionally abusive marriage. I've gained a lot of support and knowledge from being in this forum and am so grateful for that. To get in touch with the National Domestic Violence Hotline and Safe Havens ... but those organisations are only available in the US. Here in Canada, a search brings up very few sites geared toward actually helping victims. There are lots of information sites in regards to what abuse is, but the one site I found that might have been of some help, their link to find shelters in my area didn't work. I let them know!!

Basically, all the sites here say: If you're in trouble, call 911.
I also found a site that gave me a toll free number in Toronto - hours and hours away from me, that can give me "info" on finding "more info".

I personally thought that the lack of support for domestic abuse here in Canada is appallingly lacking. Shameful! And I felt it should be put out there. People should know. In a serious situation, getting on the phone and having to call number after number to find some help is unacceptable. 911 is great and all, but not always is something so drastic needed.

Canada - shame on you!
Hugs from:

I have just read your other posts and my heart is beating faster than it would like. Your in a dire situation, could you contact the police for advice, they would know which direction to point you in, just do whatever it takes,

Can you call/email the U. S. National Domestic Violence Hotline and ask them for contact numbers in Canada? You are so close to the U.S. border...there must be something they can do for you....if not, they should know who can..

Blessings

Ree, I chatted online with the U.S. domestic violence hotline. They say there are resources in Canada...and gave me this link. I hope it helps you. The U.S. Domestic Violence Hotline is full of help. If this link doesn't help, contact them again to get more resource ideas.
Love,
Pre

You're welcome. Here is a resource that is searchable by location and it has hotline phone numbers and organizations that can help Canada: map to domestic violence information « HotPeachPages International
Thanks for this!

I regret not calling the police on my abusive ex. If he's hitting you, go to a womans emergency shelter.
They will help you get your own housing, and get back on your feet. There's a reason why they tell you to call 911.
