In Man vs. Woman: Childhood Emotional Neglect | Childhood Emotional Neglect, the author talks about the "... remarkable gender differences in the effects of Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN)" she has seen in her work as a psychologist. She reminds us the article is based on her experiences and have not been specifically researched.
Her findings are indeed more fodder for those who like to exploit the differences between men and women without acknowledging the commonalities. The author concludes: If I could gather all of the CEN men and women in the world together in one huge room, here is what I would say to them:I am not surprised that maltreatment during childhood has repercussions during adulthood, notwithstanding gender differences. What do you think? |
