What age does it get inappropriate for a girl to 1) be seen naked by her dad 2) lay in bed with her father/parents 3) sit on the couch for a movie inbetween her mom and dad

In my opinion:

1) It largely depends on when she starts feeling uncomfortable being seen naked by him, AND when he starts feeling uncomfortable seeing her naked before the reverse is true. i.e. if either party is uncomfortable with it, it is time to stop.

2) Again it has to do with comfort levels... and the size of the bed. Parents is different than dad alone, too.

3) I don't think there is an age at which this is inappropriate, depending on comfort levels, and the desire of the parents to sit together instead of being separated. If they want to sit together, she'll need to choose which one she wants to sit next to, or move to another location altogether.
Thanks for this!

I think:

1) Difficult to say. I know of a woman who was sexually abused by her dad starting when she was 3 years old, but I wouldn't automatically say that a father seeing his 3-year-old daughter naked is wrong. Also I think there's a difference in whether there's a mother available. My mother used to help me shower when I was younger, but if it's a one parent household and there's only a father available to do that? So I think I'll say it's inappropriate when it's not necessary anymore - if the daughter can shower by herself.

2) I don't think this is inappropriate as long as both are wearing nightclothes.

3) I don't think this is inappropriate.

1. What I have heard in many of my Human Development classes is that as soon as a child is old enough to recognize the differences in the male and female bodies, the child should no longer be seeing the parent naked.... this can happen anywhere from age 2-4 years old usually. I would say that by age four the parents should only be seeing their child naked if they are helping the child dress. By age five or six the child should be able to dress themselves and therefore the parent should not be seeing them naked unless there is a health reason for it.

2. I think this depends on what the definition of "laying in bed" is. If you mean sleeping in the parents bed I would say this habit should be broken by age six - the sooner the better. If you mean innocently snuggling or just laying in bed with a parent or both parents to watch a movie or read a book, then any age as long as everyone is comfortable.

3. I think this would only be inappropriate if the child was being forced to sit there against his/her will.

Is twelve too old for a girl to lay in the dads bed?
What if he did bad stuff with her before?

Is the child forced to lay there or is it voluntarily?

Then I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
