Hi,
I'm going to see a counselor for domestic Violence in 2 days. I'm kind of worry. I do have an alter. I'm afraid when I start talking about my abuse she may come out. I'm going to try to keep her in. Should I tell the counselor about my alter or just say nothing. I know the alter comes out when I'm upset and getting suicidal. I hope this doesn't happen. Any suggestions is welcome. loveyouhun |

loveyouhun, any meds you are on that keep your alter(s) in check, stay on them. Having a written outline of what you want to talk about could help you be focused and to the point. If you can keep yourself, well exercised and well fed with a high protein low carb diet unless you are on a special doctor recommended diet. With meals every 3-4 hours. If you have some healthy snack an hour or two before the appointment that could help.
Getting there early enough (20-30 minutes) so you don't get panicked or anxious trying to get there and be late. I really think you could talk to your therapist or pdoc about these things if that is option. Another thing, call ahead and see what identification, papers, or other stuff you need to bring with you (pictures?) Preparation is my keep to relaxing. Here is another first aid tip I use. Breathe naturally and count the breaths 1 on the inhale, 2 on the exhale up to 10 then start at 1 again.
