Has anyone ever been stalked online?

Yes. And also in real life. It is terrifying.

Me too. Very difficult to feel comfortable, and authorities often make things worse.

Yes. In real life as well. It is very scary. Not knowing the intentions of another person is not fun.

In real life and online. One was an ex-boyfriend who totally melted down after we broke up. It went on for two years. He stopped when I threatened to tell his parents (can you believe that?) The other was a creep from grad school who just started following me home one day. When the semester was over, he disappeared.
It's so funny you asked this Q right now. I have a colleague who's beginning to email me constantly about unnecessary things, always in a bullying and antagonistic way. She's been asked repeatedly not to contact me, but she does it anyway. It reminds me of my former stalkers. She's self-diagnosed with a 100 different disorders, so she always blames he bad behavior on "symptoms." |

![]() Typically these individuals get a high off of the chase and disruption of others. They are typically odd loner type people, or bullies, it depends on the environment of the stalking. |

Yes, sometimes it ends up being someone a person knows. Have you confronted this individual? Have you talked to others about this individual?

Not that many people admit to being a stalker.

Yeah it's hard for me to imagine they would. They already totally ignore the personal space or the rights of the person they are targeting. It's got to be hard to flip that switch and make them realize that their behavior is stalking or is even straight up wrong.

Ignore. It's the only way.

It's a part of their sickness. It's typically something they have deep set that translates into something they were deprived of. It's similar to shoplifting, they get a high off of it. Getting attention by doing something bad is better then getting no attention at all in their mind, it's an ego thing, and it's certainly not anything a "healthy" person particiapates in.
