I recently registered. I am in Australia. Can anyone state what to do when you have been verbally abused?

I would think you need to be more specific as this covers a lot of ground. Was it a personal attack from some one you know? A work place experience or school? More details might help the good folks here steer you in the right direction.
I am sorry this has happened to you, it is never a good thing to be treated this way.

I have taken steps to stop it. I have said never again and sought the help of a therapist and a pastor. It still reverberates in my head though as I have taken a lot for way too long from too many family members. It is hard to overcome because words are very powerful. I think my therapist is trying to help me by getting me to speak positive words to myself. Verbal abuse is very painful and debilitating.
