I'm not sure whether to tell my therapist because I don't want him to accidentally give me suggestions.
I'm talking with him about some "minor adult sexual trauma." By talking I mean very slow baby steps no details. I generally don't remember my childhood but lately I have been having a slight of a memory that keeps coming in (like my parents sending me to another city by car by someone they know). But that's the extent of that memory so far. I'm not sure out of all things I'm thinking about this. Is it possible that I'm putting this in my head? Does anyone have similar experiences? What was it like for you? |

Hi Tangeriine.
I guess it depends on what type of therapist you have. Psychiatrist? Counsellor? Psychologist? But my 'Psychiatrist' over a period of several years gave little weight to details of past trauma/recollections real or imagined...but focussed more on invasive symptoms and effects of those traumatic memories ...helping me with compartmentalising and developing strategies to move forward. However...This is definitely something that you need to bring up in your Therapy. Your Therapist will guide you on which way he/she believes is the best way to handle such thoughts. Be kind to yourself Tangerine.
