I grow up in really dysfunctional family. I don't even want to think about them, but family is always first topic people talk for small talk/introduction etc. I just keep making up happy family story, but just talking about family is triggering for me. People keep asking me why I don't visit my family, and I don't have good answer. Any tips to deal with these situation?

I am in the same situation. I just tell people I prefer not to discuss my family.

I sometimes tell people I grew up in a dysfunctional family and I now keep my safety distance without being hateful or spiteful toward any of them.
