I tracked down a girl that I knew in Straight. We talked for about an hour and a half on the phone. My feelings are mixed regarding this conversation because, for one, I have never talked about Straight or my experience there with anyone. I have not discussed it with any outsiders. I have never kept in touch with anyone there but since reopening this matter I have pressed on in my quest to uncover what happened to me and to the others. I really don't want to discuss the details of our conversation right now because I am still dealing with it myself.I know this seems weird but alot of my memories of there are skewed. Vague. Other memories are very vivid.
I was on my support board for Straight survivors and came across a "person" who will not divulge wether they are male or female. Anyway, they said that they were there when I was there and know me. They were not only a fellow "straightling", they graduated the program and became Staff of the facility I was at. Once on staff they pulled the charts for the two 12 year olds that were in there (me and another 12 year old) and it was clearly marked that the 12 year old in question did not have a drug problem. However, Straight was allowed to keep this 12 year old there because Straight was not only classified as a "Drug Rehab", but a Behavior Modification/Family Treatment Center". Remember, they also advertised as a residential program. But that was not the case. We were placed into different homes almost every few days. We didnt have anything to call our own. The clothes that were sent from our parents would get lost in the shift from house to house so I was usually stuck wearing something that was 5 times too big because I was so tiny. There were times when I refused to "comply" and kept in the same clothes for days at a time. I am not the only one who had this same experience there. It was common practice. What's worse is that they were threatning our siblings in the sibling program that if they did not comply, they would be placed in the program also. The person that claims they were on staff when I was there said that they did not get a drug test prior to be placed in the program. I spent night after night in deplorable conditions that I can't even begin to explain out of pure shame and humiliation. Im done. Im sorry |

I'm here for you whenever and for whatever, should you need me! Have you thought of feeding this information to your mother? Think about the information, get the proof you need, have your answers ready and give it to her... either by increments or all at once. Whatever you decide. Don't let her get away with playing the victim unless she can prove to you that she indeed WAS a victim herself. It doesn't sound like it though. Love you!! __________________ Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |
