When I grew up in Burlington, Vermont , I was placed in St Joseph’s Orphanage when I was 6. I left at 16. Here’s an article about it. I hope the attachment worked. Just tap the attachment and it should bring you to the correct page. Just looking for people who can relate.

I cant relate but I am so sorry you went through this. I cant imagine this. It's horrific. Im sorry you were scarred but thankful youre alive ((((hugs))))

So sorry to hear this. I was sexually abused by a Catholic priest so I can relate. Religious objects often trigger me.

i was also abused by a priest its rife in the catholic church i cant even go into a catholic church at the moment

Yes, I know what you mean about getting triggered by anything Catholic. I am the same way. It’s given me a deep distrust of authority figures. Still working on it though. I’ve tried EMDR and CBT. So far nothing works. With the EMDR, I get triggered worse than ever.

Yes, I know what you mean. I ended up converting to Buddhism. Who seem to be having a few problems themselves.

I still consider myself a Christian but not a Catholic, but I have to just be religious on my own. That stinks, I think many faiths have these kinds of issues.

I read that article the other day. I am so sorry for all your experiences there. It was horrific. I know you didn't only experience abuse of different sorts but you would have also missed out on the necessary developmental parts of childhood - positive attachment to a benevolent caregiver, a sense of belonging etc. I wish yu all the healing energy you can find for yourself!
I didn't grow up in an orphange but did experience severe ongoing abuse from my family members, so I can relate to the abuse and lack of normal developmental experiences. Healing is a hard road. Some things can't ever be made right. We do however get to make them as right as we can in the circumstances we find ourselves in. Best wishes on your journey. |
