Hi, it's been a while since i've been here, but today my mum went psycho yet again, attacking me with words, about how disgusting, filthy I am, as I'm a long-term unemployed, loser etc. It was so awful, she said the most horrible things. Then finally I tried to fight back and she swung at me. I dodged but then she went full-on psycho and tried to attack me with one of her crutches
She did that thing where she attacks everything about you, called me a devil-worshipper for wearing black, and was trying to meditate and do her spiritual-religious enlightened-soul/chosen one stuff while screaming obscenities at me. The physical stuff was really triggering coz that's my dad's m.o. so... yea anyway I needed to vent. For anyone who has those parents that are loved by the extended family, friends, neighbours, community, do good charitable work, are religious & good people and 'can do no wrong' ...but abuse you behind closed doors & no one will ever know... I'm sure you will be able to relate |

my mother was like that, too
it started with just emotional abuse, escculated to physical, and it all came to an end when she threatened my own life (and braught stuff to help her end it) and told me that if she couldn't end my life she'd pay someone to do it for her. she is now no longer in the country and I feel a little bit of relief, however she does still threaten me |

Wtf that sounds like a harrowing ordeal. Although it is horrible for anyone to go through that I'm glad I'm not alone. Old friends definitely wouldn't believe me if I told them what my mother is really like.

You can't fight verbal abuse. All you can do, is remove yourself from it....walk away....don't listen. The Verbally Abusive Relationship by Patricia Evans saved my life.

I’m sorry for what happened to all on this thread. I know what you mean by a mom going psycho, though. I’ve only experienced verbal assault, and even then it is more insidious.

Yep,I can relate. My abuser went an extra mile to put on a facade of generous ,nice , religious and pious woman.Who will believe me if I revealed her true colors? So I kept quiet. I suffer in silence in the aftermath.Hugs to all of you who went through the similar ordeal.

Sweetie, I went through the same thing with my mother. The only difference was that she wasn't a do gooder who abused me behind closed doors. She pretended to be a caring and concerned parent to others, yet mistreated her children in private. I have so many bad stories about my mom. She was both emotionally and spiritually abusive. During my last years in high school, she thought the world was ending due to the economic recession. Because of our strange beliefs, she tried to convince me not to get married and start a family after high school. She also tried to make my decisions for me even as I was coming out of high school. In reality, she never believed in me due to my disability. My maternal half sister was always her favorite child. But, she was bad to both of us at times. With my mother and some of her family, abuse and isolation is considered love.
