Holiday season is coming and many of us are expected to spend time with the family members. My sister used to abuse me physically and emotionally growing up and used to hurt and humiliate me on daily basis. I was planning to visit my family in a different city this holiday season and was planning to stay with my parents. Because of the new variant, they have asked me to stay with my sister. I want to see my family, but staying with her would be difficult. she still thinks of me as someone who she can bully and boss around, and I am still scared of her. I am very close to cancelling my trip but I still want to see my parents. Staying at a hotel is not financially possible. I have cousins in the area but they were her cheering crowd during our fights growing up so staying with them is better but not ideal. I would welcome any suggestions.

I’m so sorry about your dilemma. Maybe you’d feel safer with your cousins, you know them and we don’t, but do you think they’d treat you better than your sister? Genuine question. Would Airbnb be an option for you? Their rates tend to be lower than hotels, but feel free to ignore this suggestion if it’s not feasible.
I wish you the best, whatever happens or what you decide to do. |

Dear human being, if it was the same area,I would invite you to stay with me. However we live on different continents. I send you understanding and support.
I have similar, yet more complexed situation myself. I don't dare giving you advice, but I can offer sympathy and validation of your (really your sis's problem). Finally, to ad, you're not defined by someone else's character flaws. Abuser is. Hope that relieves a bit of the heavy burden. Best of luck and be safe. |
