Thank you sister for all those kicks, slaps, punches, verbal threats, public humiliation, injuries, teasing and making me feel scared growing up. While the physical scars are mostly gone (or at least less apparent to someone who is not a professional), the mental ones are still there. Thanks for all this!

Hi. I didn't see this here until tonight. I am so sorry you endured treatment like this from your sister. How terrible! I want you to know, you are not alone in this.

I know it's a tough topic to bring up, because so many cannot wrap their heads around the fact that it happens, at all. It's even taken psych professionals a long time to understand that this is a very real situation, for many people.

My sister's abuse of me was psychological and emotional, rather than physical. At an amazingly young age she knew how to manipulate my parents into punishing my brother and myself for our "mistreatment" of her---which never happened. It was all done with lies, and twisting the truth. Her list of sneaky sins is as long as my arm.

And the pains she inflicted, right up through my adult years, utilized much the same approach (taking advantage of my forgiving nature to carry on denigrating and demoralizing me at every turn; smiling to my face, while telling anyone who would listen what a "loser" I am, or how I'm not the sweetheart everyone thinks I am, etc, etc.) Our childhood was difficult enough. But she made it much worse, and also managed to wreak havoc with my reputation AND my emotional well-being as a grown adult, too, for as long as she could.

I can assure you, there IS healing and recovery from all you were put through.

I hope you find the support and understanding you hope for, here.

Best wishes for healing, and better days, MG

Thank you very much for the nice message. I am also sorry for what your sister put you through. Successful abusers are also good manipulators. That is part of their success. I am healing slowly but the scars remain. Thanks again for your kind message
