When someone takes advantage of someone young and naive they are weak scum. You have now learned the reality that some people can never be trusted. You are still you, but now you are wise that there are bad people out there in the world.

I appreciate the positive support on this thread. I must admit that this particular comment doesn't inspire much confidence in people's understanding of the situation. I think there were assumptions made in this reply, and I can't shake the feeling it was a bit "victim blame-y." Maybe this wasn't your intention, but wording things correctly is important so avoid confrontation and potentially hurt feelings. I'm not hurt by the comment but I did want to share my stance on it. Thank you.

I also feel that too many assumptions are not helpful

Completely agree with you that wording things carefully and correctly is vitally important.

''Victim blaming'' (even if it might not be intentional) is harmful and the opposite of ''intelligent'' and ''strong''... imho.

Thank you for your honest feedback, I appreciate it. I hope you keep posting.

My best to you
