I did this because I am not sure which family member is lying to me about the case. My mom told me it was a quick trial because he did not try to deceive the police and plead guilty.

My aunt insists the case was dropped and he was never convicted.

It almost feels like she dug up the past to trigger a reaction from me.

Either outcome is going to be tough. Thinking he was convicted when he walked free, or my aunt lying to manipulate and control me.

Unfortunately I think it might be the latter though I can’t rule out anything at this point.

I'm sorry your family members would lie to you.

Do you have a lawyer or some legal representation to get the correct information?

Do you also have a supportive psychologist who can help you process the information?

My family doctor and place I go to therapy is super helpful.

I know I am going to be angry if I have documented proof that my aunt lied. I think it will give me some power though considering all she said and did.

Whatever the outcome will be closure. I decided that given my aunt’s toxic behaviour there is just no going back even if she had a moment of truth.

Good to hear you have supportive doc and therapist,

Sorry to hear about your aunt's toxic behaviour. I would not go back either.

Sending you good energy to get through all of this. My heart goes out to you.
