I'm celebrate recovery. I have someone who I would love to be my sponsor. She's in cr too and I feel she an excellent sponsor. However I'm attracted to her would it be wise to have her as my sponsor

I'm in another program that suggests only having sponsors of your own gender to make sure feelings aren't misinterpreted or misplaced. I can imagine a scenario where if something became romantic & went wrong, one person might be tempted to go out & drink.

I don't drink, but I'm struggling with my sexuality. I was verbally and physically abused by my mom. I often wonder if had no been abused if I would be struggling with my sexuality.
I also struggle with depression and isolate myself part of job would be to contact my to see how I feel and keep me from isolating myself. However I heard she struggled with chemical addiction and I don't want to be a trigger to her. |

I'm sorry. I thought Celebrating Recovery was just for people who had substance abuse issues. I have a friend who attends & I get the impression that it's a Christian-based program, though. This section is primarily for folks who have a problem with alcohol, or other substances, so I don't know how much folks here would be able to address your specific issue. Have you tried the sexuality forums on this site? I know your primary issue deals with sponsorship, but you might be able to get more out of one of the other sections. Keep us posted on how things are going.
