Hi- I've been sober coming up on seven years, thank God no relapses. However, even though I've never had a sweet tooth or an overeater, I still cannot seem to kick this 'swap'. Not only have I gained over 20 pounds, but am deathly afraid of becoming diabetic. Any ideas?

Congrats on the seven years! 20 pounds in seven years doesn't sound too bad. Sobriety is worth the weight.

Try eating fruit like apples and oranges. They're full of natural sugar and they curb the obsession for junk sweets. Plus avoid the cookie and candy lanes in the grocery store. Good luck! It worked for me.

It's so hard to lose. Try cutting out bread entirely. Congrats on giving up the alcohol.
