I know I will seem like an snob and I do not mean to be. 12 step programs of all kinds have helped many. I am an alcoholic so I deal with AA. My daughter is an alcoholic by default but got into drugs as well so she started out with AA. I have been to many NA meetings and my experience may be limited but I seem to see so much drama with NA. In fact all the drug addicts I know started with NA and moved to AA for this reason.
My theory is because the heroin crisis tends to strike the younger tween-20 somethings so there is limited life experience and maturity but maybe I am off base. Some people who like NA have told me that AA made them feel like they were in a cult. If you are a 12 stepper what do you think? __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" Sincere questions don't make anyone seem like a snob in my opinion.

Alcoholics rarely reach the bottoms that drug users do. i.e how many alcoholics are street walkers selling themselves dozens of times a night for a drink? Recalling the adages, 'Twenty miles in, twenty miles out' and 'We stop growing emotionally when our addiction begins', addicts tend to take more time to crawl back to socially acceptable levels of maturity in recovery. AA meets the legal definition of a religion in our country. I tend to agree with that assessment. That is not to say that many people don't view or treat it that way - but many do. __________________ My gummy-bear died. My unicorn ran away. My imaginary friend got kidnapped. I have tried both for a few days. I think they both help and I enjoyed my experiences.
