What people do is move an elf toy to different locations periodically, many people do it every day, and also they might put them in amusing positions or little scenarios. It’s kind of like an interactive version of Where’s Waldo? You can get little props for them now, at least I think I saw some last time I went Christmas shopping lol.

I want a protector elf that has no rules so I can snuggle with the elf doll to help me sleep. I think the elf on the shelf can't be touched, if that's the rule.
