I have been battling major depressive disorder and panic attacks for about 12 years. The doctor will start me on one medication leave me on it for six months then switch to something else. I don't know if this means I'm resistant to the meds or what.

Most days I have to force myself out of bed to shower and get my kids off to school then I just come home and basically sleep for hours. I barely eat anymore. I don't sleep at night I lay awake and the thoughts just flood in. I rarely go see my friends or family anymore.

I'm currently on Vybriid 40mg in the morning and then Ativan 1mg twice a day as needed. I don't feel like my doctor listens to me and all I hear from my husband is that I just need to snap out of it. I wish it were that simple...

Don't give up. I pretty much had given up when I wound up in the hospital and they finally found a med combination that works.

The simple way to snap out from depression is not to feel alone, communicate more with your friends or family members, always keep yourself busy with your favorite hobbies, spend leisure time or do what makes you feel happy.

I disagree with your husband

I also think inpatient might help?

(it's not an option for me because of some ridiculous allergies )

Your story sounds a lot like mine. Only I've been on the same combination of meds for years, and they don't really help much, They help some, they've kept me alive so far, but they don't really lift the depression.
