I am taking 40mg Celexa and 12mg Invega and I still feel depressed and unmotivated to do anything. People laugh around me and have fun all the time, but I still feel depressed and I just don't care. Is it normal to still feel depressed?

Hi
Get back to your psychiatrist and tell the meds are not working. maybe he can prescribe a different combination. __________________ Be Happy! Make others Happy!!! |

How long have you been taking these meds? They take anything from 3 weeks to a couple of months before they work. I feel for you, I don't have much luck with antidepressants in general, but the majority of people seem to get some benefit before they find a way to recover themselves with whatever support they can get.
Kindest wishes for your recovery journey. |

I understand how you feel. I don't think my antidepressant is helping either.

There are many classes of antidepressants, it may be that your GP or psychatrist will switch you to another class of antidepressant, or use a combination of several. Depression can also be a syptom as well as a diagnosis. It may be that there is something else is causing you to feel depressed.

I'd complain to your MD if you think things aren't working or if you are experiencing any side effects. Invega is an antipsychotic drug Paliperidone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Did you doc say why he prescribed it? Antipsychotics are tranquilizers which may explain why you feel unmotivated. Let us know how it goes . If you've got depression, I always think it's a good idea to do the healthy safe things that are good for depression at least in parallel http://forums.psychcentral.com/4262681-post105.html - vital |

I have been taking 30mg Celexa for a year. I still feel chronically empty, constantly exhausted, unmotivated, numb, and just lifeless. I dont believe theres an antidepressant out there for me. I have tried prozac, zoloft, pamelor, cymbalta, lamictal, clonopin etc... The only thing that help me are stimulants (adderall & caffeine) but they only last a few hours & have bad side effects. I feel your pain. I feel hopeless like im missing out on life...
