I am nearly 28 years old and I have been in treatment for 20 years. In that time I have been on about 10 different medications and have been in weekly talk therapy on and off. The last "time off" I've had from therapy was nearly a decade ago.
Today at my therapy appointment I finally said what has been on my mind for a long time: "I don't think things are going to get better for me."

Before anyone starts posting about how there is "always hope that things will get better, just keep trying", let me explain: Accepting my situation as it is does not mean I am going to end my life. Nor does it mean I've given up.

I have execpted the statistical fact that not everyone recovers, and I have honestly never been more at peace.

Hello NoGreaterLove: Yes, the Skeezyks absolutely agrees. This is exactly where I'm at. I don't see any reason to believe anything will ever change for me. It all just is what it is. And you're right. Accepting that this is the case does, I believe, bring with it a certain peaceful quality of its own.

I agree with the Skeezyks. I too have had to find a way to accept that I am how/who I am and it seems you are further down that path than I am.

Sometimes acceptance is the bravest and wisest path, a chance to find the best way to live with what we have.

Kudos and best wishes to you.

I wish I could just accept this and move on with my life. I am so tired of it being my focus. I think it is because I have felt how good it can be for me and I so badly want it again.

Maybe you should do something you haven't done yet. Look out of the mainstream (not sure what else have you done beside the "therapy and meds and maybe excercising" routine. Change up your life somewhat. Look for inspiration in different sources. Look into art, philosophy, spirituality to choose parts that you could helpfully apply ot yourself.
