I'm feeling pretty defeated. I've tried 24 different medications for mood. I've tried ECT twice, TMS once, and ketamine infusions. I've been in therapy many times over the years and completed an IOP program. Hospitalization once. I've tried different supplements and vitamins. I've been an active person running, soccer, yoga. hiking etc.. I've read tons of self help and spiritual books. Try meditation and all those things recommended, mindfulness, DBT, CBT, ACT etc.. But, all the self care and therapies only help to a certain extent. I find myself with this episode of depression really stuck and I don't know what to do anymore. I feel so defeated like nothing works well enough to get myself to the point where I can fully function and get out of this quicksand of depression that is suffocating me. I'm feeling like I have to accept the fact that I just can't get better. Feeling hopeless. I haven't been able to work in over a year, and still feel like cognitively I can't do it. I'm scared.
Have any of you tried getting into any clinical trials for treatments? I feel like I don't know what to do next or where to go for help and I'm losing hope in any of the available treatments. Any suggestions out there? |

KM2018, Here is a link to 1 trial:
Depression | Clinical Research Trial Listing ( Depression (Adult and Geriatric) | Depression (Major/Severe) | Depression ) ( TX491 ) ( Center Watch is the site) I think you are brave and strong to persevere in your search for relief. I, too, struggle with what I must accept for a baseline depression. Is that a necessary baseline? "Suffocating quicksand" is a great description. |

I've "only" tried 16 meds for depression-which is enough to know that tricyclics, SSRI, SNRIs don't work for me. Intranasal ketamine does though. Which has been amazing.
I'd do a clinical trial in a heartbeat-I just could not find any close that I qualified for. When nothing has helped, why not give something new a try? There is an extensive listing of trials at clinicaltrials.gov |

Kecanoe, I'm so glad you finally have something that works! So many of us are still searching or resigned, or just lost, or all of those... Would you mind sharing more about intranasal ketamine? what side effects do you feel?

Poor thing, I am certainly glad I wasn't someone pill subject. I am glad my diagnoses we're correct unhappy about the traumatic past of course that caused my disability of it. I am certainly also happy some thing have indeed gotten better which I all we can really ask for. Please ask your treatment provider to get to the crux of the issue especially get a journal and make sure you are being really real with yourself.……...I would ask about bipolar and multiplicity then listen to the opinions and don't be closed minded. This means do just this because you are important and sometimes they will play on your acceptance of 24 pills.
