I have an appointment Monday with a psychologist and Thursday with a psychiatrist. They told me that I'd meet with others also and that each appointment will take 3- 4 hours.
Has anyone done this? What should I expect? I'm a bit nervous about this. |

I haven't done this, because meds work pretty well for me.
I hope you can find some relief. I hear they use transcranial magnetic stimulation for treatment-resistant depression. Maybe you can try that. |

Hello Catnip123. I am not familiar with treatment-resistant programs. Sounds interesting and I really hope you find some relief!
Question for you: does 'treatment-resistant depression' mean that drugs did not help, or psychotherapy, or both failed to help? Meds never helped me; only gave me bad side effects. But therapy helped at two different stages. Please share more about your new program if you feel comfortable. Maybe it would be something I would try in the future. Peace and best wishes to you! |

I would also like to know how this turns out for you. I am trying to plow through the hoopla of getting my HMO to okay TMS for my chronic Depression. I would only say this in advice- temper your expectations. Best of luck!

Monday I met with a psychologist on the Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) team and today I met with the clinical research coordinator, had some lab work and met with the psychiatrist with the TRD program.
I'm going to start TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) hopefully within a couple of weeks. They have to get my insurance to approve it. They said that shouldn't be a problem since I have tried so many different meds without much success. I sure hope this helps! But the pdoc told me their are other treatments if this doesn't work. |

I'm starting daily TMS treatments on Monday April 15th. I'm a bit anxious about this.

I had the first treatment today. It went fine. The starting level was a bit uncomfortable, so the tech adjusted it so that it didn't bother me. He said they can up the level over the next couple of days.

TMS update - I just finished my 15th treatment, so I'm half way through with this. On day 14 I started to feel good! I feel good today also! It may be a coincidence, but I can't remember feeling good two days in a row for a long time.

I will be starting this treatment hopefully by end of this week. My insurance now covers it at 100%, whereas a year ago no coverage whatsoever. Glad to hear it is working for you - gives me hope!
